• Rivkins Christopher

    Rivkins Christopher (Dancer, Company member since 2015) was born and raised in Miami, FL where he began his training at the Thomas Armour Youth Ballet under the direction of Ruth Wiesen. He is a graduate from New World School of the Arts where he received his BFA in dance. His professional experience includes dancing with Momentum Dance Company, Peter London Global Dance Company, Gaspard & Dancers, and he spent one season as an understudy with Miami Contemporary. In addition he has attended intensives such as Ailey, Deeply Rooted, the American Dance Festival and the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Workshops. He has had the pleasure of working with choreographers such as Darshaun Bhuller, Kyle Abraham, Jamar Roberts, and performed works by José Limon, Robert Battle, Rennie Harrris, Kevin Iega Jeff, and Bill.T.Jones. He recently presented his first professional work entitled “Self M.A.R.C” at Miami’s Open Stage presented by Dance Now Miami. Rivkins recently completed an international tour with Vissi Dance Theatre this past summer performing at various venues in Japan. This is his fourth season with SYREN Modern Dance.

  • Victoria Ellis

    Victoria Ellis (Dancer, Company Member since 2018) is originally from Vestal, NY.  She earned her B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance from The Boston Conservatory in 2015.  While at the conservatory, she had the opportunity to perform works by Colleen Thomas, Adam Barruch, Danny Buraczeski, Tommy Neblett, and Omar Carrum & Claudia LaVista.  Since graduation, Victoria has been working as a freelance dancer based in NYC.  Here she has had the pleasure of performing with CaptiveFlow Dance, LEMI Collective, Advanced Curation, and Chris Ferris & Dancers, among others.  Outside of dance, Victoria is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a visual artist.  This is her first season as an understudy with SYREN.

  • Nico Li

    Xuexin (Nico) Li’s (Dancer, Company member since 2009) range and adaptability stems from her global exposure as an acclaimed artistic youth performing throughout China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the U.S., where she eventually earned her BFA from the Conservatory of Dance, SUNY Purchase College in 2009.  As a collaborator, she brings her intellect and experience whole-heartedly into the creative process, immersing herself in dance, improvisation and physical theater.  Currently Nico is a senior company member of SYREN Modern Dance (2009- ) and Chris Masters Dance (2013- ), as well as a frequent guest artist of Maurice Fraga’s Ekilibre Dance Co., Yin Mei Dance and Dance China NY, through the NY Chinese Cultural Center.  Recent teaching credits include Beijing Meng Jing Hui Experimental theater, Grosse Pointe Dance Center, University of Utah Department of Modern Dance and Brigham Young University. Supplemental to her research of the body, she is also a certified GYROTONIC® trainer and invests in a daily meditation practice. Nico is incredibly grateful for being part of SYREN for the past 9 years.

  • Jessica Nolan

    Jessica Nolan (Dancer, Company member since 2018) began her dance training in Australia and continued training under RAD examiner Deborah Morgan in Canada.  After graduation from The Victoria School for Performing and Visual Arts in Edmonton, Jessica moved to New York City to train in the Conservatory of Dance at S.U.N.Y. Purchase.  At Purchase, Jessica developed a deeper love and appreciation for ballet and contemporary dance by performing works of George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, Justin Rutzou, and Kyle Abraham.  It was there that she not only studied their work, but also the pioneering spirit they set forth.  She enjoys passing on this knowledge as a teacher for dance schools in New York City and Long Island.  Jessica has been blessed to perform work by Marie Chouinard, Manuel Vignoulle, MADArt, Periapsis Dance, RedCurrant Collective, Suzanne Beahrs Dance, and CoreDance Contemporary.  She is thrilled to be working with SYREN as they build new work.  This is her first season with SYREN.  

  • Darcie Perkins

    Darcie Perkins (Dancer, Company member since 2012)
    grew up dancing around her family’s dairy farm in northeastern Indiana and began her formal ballet training at twelve under Beth Bly McLeish at the New American Youth Ballet and Conservatory. She completed her B.F.A. in dance performance at Butler University in 2011 and moved to NYC upon graduation. She has studied with many ballet companies through the years, as well as modern dance choreographers Paul Taylor and Doug Varone. Since being in New York, she’s worked with different contemporary choreographers, performing at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre, Dumbo Arts Festival, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She seeks to encourage bodies and minds of all ages to discover the joy of movement and the arts through teaching dance and yoga at several YMCA’s and studios in Queens and Manhattan. She’s also spent time teaching dance and setting her own work on college students in Sydney, Australia. She is grateful for God’s blessings and constant guidance, and for the chance to dance and grow with her SYREN family. This is her fifth season with SYREN.

  • Lynn Peterson

    Lynn Peterson (Co-Artistic Director/Dancer) received her training from Jordan Academy of Dance, Indianapolis Ballet Theater, Hosanna Sacred Arts, SUNY Purchase, Lincoln Center Institute, The Yoga Room (200 hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training), and Asana Alphabet (Children’s Yoga Teaching Certificate). Ms. Peterson has enjoyed being on faculty at Mark Morris Dance Center as well as Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. She has also worked with students at Purchase College, Yale University, Anderson University, The Hartt School, IONA College, Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, Center for Creative Youth, The Ethel Walker School, Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, Jordan Academy of Dance, Broad Ripple High School, Ballet Theatre of Carmel, Academy of Dance Arts, and New American Youth Ballet, among others. Tremendous gratitude to Kate St. Amand for 20 years of going together step by step by step, to the ever-inspiring company members of SYREN, and to Eric, Silas, and Sawyer, “for keeping my heart full and my spirit bright”.

  • Kate St. Amand

    Kate St. Amand (Co-Artistic Director/Choreographer) is a native of Connecticut and received her B.F.A. from SUNY Purchase. While at Purchase, she found immense inspiration performing in works by Shen Wei, Lin Hwai-Min, and Mark Morris. Kate trained at the Nutmeg Ballet, The Erick Hawkins School, The Limon School, and The Kirov Academy. Her work has been performed internationally in New York, Washington DC, and Paris, and has been presented at Symphony Space, Jacob’s Pillow, Purchase College, New Haven Ballet, The White Plains Performing Arts Center, The Ethel Walker School, Westminster school, The Nutmeg Conservatory and Riverside Church among others. Ms. St. Amand has also been a guest speaker at Yale University, the Metropolitan Museum, and Cite Universitaire in Paris. Her thoughts on beauty, creativity and healing have been published (Peter Lang Publishers, 2014). She thanks Lynn Peterson for standing strong by her side for 20 years. Ms. St. Amand serves on faculty at Westminster School and the Nutmeg Conservatory. She lives in the woods and on a river with the three loves of her life: her husband, Zachary and sons, Hunter and Declan.

  • Alice Chacon

    Alice Chacon (Dancer, Understudy since 2018) is from New York City. She began her formal dance training at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts (the “Fame” school). She also trained at the New York Chinese Cultural Center (NYCCC) in Chinese Classical and Folk dance to stay close to her roots, as she was adopted from China when she was an infant. After graduating from high school, she furthered her training at the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College where she received her B.F.A. in Dance. Here, Alice had the pleasure of working with choreographers such as Adam Barruch, Dylan Crossman, Shannon Gillen, Doug Varone, Sue Bernhard, Alexandra Beller, Deborah Lohse and more. Furthermore, she was selected to study abroad for a semester at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA), where she worked with Yongjing Li, Iratxe Ansa, and Dam Van Huynh. Alice is also a dance photographer. She has worked alongside Sidra Bell Dance New York and UANA DANS in her photography and film. Lastly, Alice was a winner of the 2018 Dance On Camera Film Festival and had her dance film shown at Lincoln Center. This is her first season with SYREN as an understudy.
